“Almost a quarter of a century into his so-called “Never Ending Tour,” Bob Dylan continues to reinvent himself on the concert stage. Last night, at the Ryan Center in Kingston, Rhode Island, Dylan transformed yet again, making changes both subtle and pronounced from his 2012 autumn tour with Mark Knopfler, all for the better.
Before the show began, a woman announced from the stage that it would be appreciated if the attendees would experience the concert live, not through a camera or cell phone, and to be considerate of others in the audience. Too bad I didn’t have my cell phone camera turned on to capture this moment! The statement reminded me of something I wrote a couple of years ago, commemorating the Buddy Holly show Dylan attended just days before the young singer’s plane went down:
