From Ken Gordon Editor of QuickMuse –
“Just wanted to tell you about a cool, Bob-Dylan-themed QuickMuse event. It’ll feature Rick Moody & David Lehman, on Jan 19, at the 14th Street Y.” (14th Street Y344 East 14th Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenues) New York, NY
The event features work by Rick Moody and David Lehman based on a photo taken of Bob Dylan, jamming with Cher (and Rick Danko). Moody writes:
“Indeed, though we often think of Dylan as though he is a Chaplin or a Keaton (humorous and utterly without discernible affect), he is more like a character from Beckett–complex, paradoxical, dressed in rags, forsaken by God–than his is like a silent film star. I’m thinking of “I can’t go on, I’ll go on,” from the Beckett trilogy, as a sort of matrix sentence for the Bob Dylan who would jam with Cher.”
P.S. I have to thank Ken for inviting me to this event, but being A Dubliner, couldn’t make it across the pond!
